Spring/Summer 2013: Fragrance

Michael by Michael Kors is a favorite of mine. This is a sophisticated and glamorous fragrance. When sampling, look for hints of freesia, lilies, peony, tuberose and blue orris. I also love the bottom notes of musk and vetiver. This is a great date night pick!

Style Idea: Wear a flowy black tank, black leather skinnies and Michael Kors Mikaela Patent Sandals. Accessorize with chunky gold bangles and a turquoise bubble necklace by J. Crew.  A pretty ponytail is the perfect finish!

Live Colorfully by Kate Spade will be launched this April. This is my pick for the warm days of summer. It’s perfect for an exciting baseball game or casual brunch with friends. Expect notes of sparkling mandarin, gardenia, coconut water and vanilla.

Style Idea: Try a preppy look from J. Crew- A white vintage v-neck tee, navy and red striped maxi skirt with tan leather T-strap sandals. For accessories, a large tan leather watch and simple stud earings.

Candy by Prada is delicious! It is the perfect blend of charming and carefree.  With notes of caramel, vanilla and musk it is ideal for that special soiree!

Style Idea: A yellow ruffle dress with Papaya Patent heels by Rachel Roy are a perfect match for Candy. Keep accessories to a minimum with layered crystal bracelets from J. Crew.

When sampling different fragrances, ask the sales professional for coffee beans. Coffee beans?  I know, sounds strange. Smelling coffee beans will ‘reset’  your sense of smell. If you have time, try wearing your top pick for thirty minutes to an hour before making the big commitment. It takes the middle(heart) notes and bottom notes time to settle in with your chemistry.
