Home Sweet Home| Welcome| Home is Where the Heart Is
When I think of the word ‘Home’, three words come to mind – Love, Cozy and Simple . ‘Love’ because the cheerful giggles running through the halls, ‘Cozy’ for the places to relax & unwind and ‘Simple’ to just keep it simple and calm. We all need a place of comfort at the end of a busy day and this is our sanctuary. Look to add things that make you feel good, calm and happy.
When it comes to decorating, start a folder. Anytime you see a great idea in a catalogue or magazine tear it and put it in your folder. This can be paint colors, design, decor, architecture anything that inspires you!
Now on to shopping…
Joss & Main and One Kings Lane are great members only websites. These sites are like shopping incredible sample sales. I have found so many unique pieces for my home and as gifts for others. Shop fast…quantities are extremely limited and you are allotted 10 minutes for items in your cart. As I said, these sites require a (free) membership, so expect to receive emails. I consider the emails to be “good reminders”.
Land of Nod and Pottery Barn Kids are my favorites for children’s rooms. Although these shops/sites can be a bit pricey at times; the sale sections are unbelievable. I’ve had luck shopping for furniture in the stores and purchasing the floor models at a fraction of the original cost.
Etsy is an all time favorite of mine! You can find anything on Etsy and it is a wonderful social e-commerce site. I love the variety of vintage and handmade items. This is a great way to support talented crafters and artists while also receiving high quality goods.
For those of you who enjoy a great DIY project, scout out local estate sales, garage sales and flea markets. You never know what treasures you might find to refurbish. For example, an old gate makes a beautiful fireplace screen when it’s cleaned up. Always think outside the box and be creative.
